This scripture verse reminded me of a storm in my Christian Walk as a young woman. It was the first severe storm of temptation. I was in my early twenties, and I was going through a spiritual struggle regarding God's will for my life.
One evening, determined to maintain my faith in God, I met a man who was not a Christian but was very attractive and appealing to my natural taste as a man should be.
Initially, I developed a friendship, but as time passed, it became serious, and the battle of the mind began. The temptation to yield to the devil's wiles was strong, and I grappled with what was right and what was wrong.
During this challenging time, the Word of God came to my defense and gave me the strength to trust Him. The Word that came into my heart was Romans 6:23 (NKJV): “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” It gripped my heart, and the fear of the Lord was there. This empowerment led me to make the right decision.
While other scriptures also guided me, this one had a profound effect on my life and prepared me for the next trial. Whenever I needed it, it came to mind because I had stored it in my inner being for the hour of temptation.
"Every Word of God is pure: He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him," Proverbs 30:5 (NKJV).
