Topic: Strong (11/21/24)
A friend recently told me, "You see Gail, you are strong."

Let me tell you why she said that. We both attend the same church and a few weeks ago, in our Sunday service, a deacon suddenly and unexpectedly resigned from his position as a deacon and youth leader. He also said that he would no longer attend the church. It was a shock to many because he was dedicated and loyal to his post of duty and, thus, a very influential person to the congregation.

Many of us were caught off guard, and what a shock it was to most of us. Our congregation is small, so it was sad because we are like a family. The shocking thing was that he forbade us from asking his wife questions. She was one of the Sunday school teachers and a significant influence on the children. They impacted the congregation in a positive way.

My reaction to his story was not shock but surprise. I have been attending this church for over twenty years, and I have seen people come and go. So, I have learned to weather this storm with the Word of God. I find strength in God's Word to be positive in those situations and to move on.

The Word of God strengthens our spirits and gives us peace within.

One of the scriptures that encourages me is 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV), "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

And when I feel weak and helpless in my Christian Walk, and when I face something that I don't understand, I hold to His unchanging Word, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" Romans 8:28 (NKJV).

I am so glad that I learned to trust in Jesus and to depend on His Word.
