Topic: PURE (09/06/24)
The catholic nuns of the local high school were pure women. They were single women and lived lives separated from worldly things. They believed in service so they taught girls without receiving salaries. Their lifestyles and clothing spoke of humility and focused on daily regimented prayers.

Many global groups live lives separate from the world, in closed communities and they seek to promote purity in their faith. Some are Christian and follow the Biblical rulings regarding moral lifestyles and hard work. Quiet reflection on God’s Truth and worship are primary activities...

In searching for the answer to purity of heart we must look to God alone.
Biblical purity is described by Paul when he spoke to the Corinthians about their failure. Like Eve they had been deceived, and they committed spiritual adultery, and had impure hearts.
{2 Corinthians 11:2-3} “I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ”.

Impure hearts are described by James as those who are friends with the world and have adulterous hearts. “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God”. {James 4:4}.

To develop a pure heart, we must be committed followers of Christ and live lives that please God by the power of the Holy Spirit and The Word. As a Christian, it means that we put God first in every thought, word, and action. Of course, sinful worldly thoughts will try and enter our hearts and minds...It's a daily war.

The key daily action is staying in God’s Word, acknowledging our sins, repenting when we sin, and asking for His forgiveness; He will guide us to a purity of heart and will be seen by our actions... The ideologies that we dwell on or focus on must be pleasing to God.

We cannot be friends with the world. Jesus loved the world but He did not follow the world’s rules. He brought God’s Kingdom to earth. The world’s values contradict His Word.
Religious rules do not save us or purify our hearts; only The Father, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit can.
