In Psalm 34, 6, (NKJV). David exclaimed, "This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles."
The psalmist's heart was broken and crushed by the challenges of his life, and the only hope for deliverance was the Lord. In his desperation, he cried unto the Lord, and the Lord in His compassion heard him and delivered him from all his troubles, showing that the Lord hears and understands our cries.
David had lost everything he held dear, and he was afflicted and forsaken. He saw himself as poor and miserable. Yet, the transformative power of faith brought him salvation, and everything he lost was restored.
The Bible tells us that being poor in spirit is the way of salvation. When we are broken and crushed in spirit by the burdens of life, we long for deliverance, so we surrender to the one who can deliver us from all our fears, heal our broken hearts, and save our souls.
