Thousands of people in this camp in Darfur
Refugees without a homeland,
In this land of Sudan where they didn't belong.
They had escaped from war in their homeland of Chad.
where death, blood, and hunger had poured down the rivers
Killings were abundant and many had died.
Sicknesses surged and there was little clean water.
Cholera came too and a hospital was started.
My young heart was moved as we worked to heal and hydrate.
In the midst of this horror, I met little orphan Amni.
She lived with her grandma, her only living family.
Often I gave her gifts of soap and small treats.
Hugs were not allowed but I did give that too
As a volunteer nurse in a refugee camp
We were medics from England on this mission of mercy.
The refugees were poor and had lost everything.
So we clothed the naked, fed the hungry, and healed the sick.
Dry products were provided so foods could be cooked.
Wells were dug and clean water came.
I saw such courage and spirit everywhere I looked.
Our team came from the West to help our poor neighbors.
Just as Jesus came down to deliver his people,
And create a Kingdom that belonged to His Father.
God, The Father has poured out His love and made us rich.
Such riches that money cannot buy, and the means was the Cross
So now, rich in power that comes through The Holy Spirit.
Our walk is to serve Him, as we love and feed others.
