Recently, one of the members of the church I attend was telling the congregation about an experience he had about a month ago. Joe, the owner of a long-standing barber shop, has built a diverse clientele over the years, serving customers from all walks of life with his excellent barber skills.

Edgar, a client of Joe's for many years, was an elderly gentleman known for his eloquence and respect. Despite their long-standing relationship, Joe and Edgar had never discussed religion. Their conversations, filled with mutual respect, had always centered on other topics.

One day, after Edgar got up from the barber chair and was leaving the shop, Joe found himself in a difficult position. He felt a strong urge to talk to Edgar about the Lord but fought the thought, thinking it was strange. However, it gripped his heart and became a burden. So, he looked at Edgar, and his concern for his soul compelled him to look past Edgar's serious intellectual facial expression and begin to speak to him. The urgency of the situation, a feeling he had never experienced, drove him to continue the conversation quickly, wanting to get rid of the burden in his heart for Edgar.

Edgar stood and listened attentively as a respectful gentleman. When Joe finished speaking to him, he responded with quiet dignity, saying, "Thank you, but I am good."

Joe continued, "Well, go home and think it over, and you can talk it over with the Lord. Maybe you feel I'm just a kid."

Edgar walked out of the barbershop, leaving Joe with mixed emotions. He was satisfied that he had done the right thing, but also felt a tinge of disappointment that his message didn't seem to have an immediate impact. However, relief washed over him, knowing he had fulfilled his duty.

A month later, Joe received a call from Edgar's wife telling him Edgar passed away. Joe thought, "Lord it was really you urging me. I trust he did talk it over with you." This experience deeply impacted Joe's faith journey, reinforcing his belief in the power of divine guidance.

Joe was sad and grieved for the loss of one of his loyal clients, but more so because of their last conversation.
