Her escape took months of planning and careful watching of the handlers’ movements.
In the cellar, which they believed to be an inescapable room, she found a fatal flaw, so she used it. She knew that everyone upstairs was asleep. They kept very late night and late morning schedules.
The terror usually began in the late morning until late at night.
She was so very tired of the abuse and the lack of freedom.
Hope grew in her soul when on an infrequent trip away from the house, she noticed a church and a hostel only streets away. The hostel was called Mercy House.
So late one night, when she was sure that the madam and her helpers were asleep, she crawled out of the cellar floor window. She wound her way through the overgrown grass and headed for the hostel. Timidly, she knocked on the back door and someone let her in.
She was terrified because she knew that soon her escape would be noticed and a search would begin.
“Please hide me.” Erneisteen pleaded with the kind lady who let her in.
To Anna, who let her in, her appearance told her story.
She led her into a pretty little room upstairs with a bed and a toilet.
“What is your name and why are you here?” she asked.
“Tell me your story when you feel ready to”.
Erneisteen was too emotional to say anything. She just curled up in the bed weeping.
They fed her a meal and gave her a warm bath and clean clothes. Her body showed signs of abuse, beatings, and neglect. She stayed in her safe room away from the other residents.
“You can stay here for as long as you need to, my dear,” said Anna. her merciful heart showed in her expression and her words. “This was truly a hostel of mercy,” she thought to herself.
Other ministers at the hostel were equally kind and the pastor came to see her too.
Weeks passed and she remained in the house. Soon she began to participate and help with chores, by choice. Warm hugs, good food, daily prayers, and Bible study became the daily routine.
On the day that she did share her story with Pastor Joe and Anna, everything began to change.
No one knew that the house of her bondage existed in their neighborhood.
She told them of the ritualistic abuse that she and others endured within the house.
“My dear, we will have to inform law enforcement, but without exposing you to them”
Pastor spoke with finality.
Erneisteen’s secret dream and prayers was to find her parents.
The last time she saw them was the morning of the day that she was kidnapped. She was twelve years old. Seemingly, they had reported her missing and she was on the Amber Alert for many months by her real name. The Jones had given her a name when they kidnapped her.
News of the bondage house was made known to the local authority, and actions were taken.
A force of men and women was assigned to smash the local trafficking industry.
The Jones’ house was invaded by the police and all the girls were placed in safe homes.
Mrs. Jones and the keepers were arrested and imprisoned.
A local committee created by the Church was set up to return the children to their families or good loving families.
Erneisteen was allowed to give evidence in a closed court. She found her parents and joyfully, their relationship was restored... She and her mother became part of The Mercy House Movement..or HMV.
HMV’s priority goals were ‘Recapture and Heal the Captured. Show Mercy. Teach Biblical Truths’.. with a view to saving and restoring their damaged souls.
The Biblical motto included “ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.’” {Matthew 5:7}. They affiliated with local churches and online colleges and made a positive impact on their city.
