Though deeply committed to her religion, the queen of Sheba/queen of the south found herself in a state of dissatisfaction. Her life as a believer in her gods left her wanting for something more, something real. Her heart began to ache for the reality of a true and living God, a yearning that grew stronger each day. Her hunger and thirst for righteousness were not just desires but a profound spiritual hunger that she could not ignore. And as the Bible says in Matthew 5:6 (NKJV), "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled."
She heard about King Solomon and the gift of wisdom God had given him to help His people, Israel, discern right from wrong.
Solomon's days were a golden age for Israel. The people rallied around their king to hear his wisdom and discernment. The country prospered during that time, and news about Israel was scattered throughout the world.
She was not content with just hearing about the king. The more she pondered, the more convinced she became that she needed to meet him. In her heart, she knew he held the answers to her questions. With unwavering determination, she decided to journey to Jerusalem, driven by her belief in the truth of what she had been told.
Embarking on a long, three-month journey on the back of a camel, the queen's heart was hungry for God, and nothing could deter her. She was undaunted by the dangers of the desert, the presence of Ishmael's children, or the potential threat of robbers. With a large group of attendants and a grand caravan of camels loaded with precious goods, she fearlessly set her sights on Jerusalem, knowing that God would protect her.
Upon her safe arrival in Jerusalem, she was awed by the grand palace King Solomon had built, the orderliness and magnificence of the officials, and the burnt offerings Solomon made at the Temple of God. She stood in wonder, trying to absorb the grandeur, but it was almost too much for her to comprehend.
Upon meeting the king, the queen was filled with awe. "Everything I heard about your achievements and wisdom is true! How happy your people must be! What a privilege for your officials to stand here day after day listening to your wisdom! Praise the Lord your God, who delights in you and has placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord's eternal love for Israel, He has made you king so you can rule with justice and righteousness."
Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. But behold, a greater than Solomon is here: Jesus Christ, God's gift to the world, who is the wisdom and love of God. Solomon's wisdom was a mere reflection of the divine wisdom and love that Jesus Christ embodies.
