That day, the preacher was preaching on divine healing when he recalled his reaction to the death of a well-known and one of the best physicians in the country of his birth. I was in the congregation when he happened to confess it.

He grinned and expressed to the congregation how surprised he was when he heard Doctor Keyon died.

The doctor was a specialist and outstanding in his profession. He had saved many lives from death, but he couldn’t save himself. He had relied on other doctors, but they, too, could not keep him alive.

The preacher said that he couldn’t believe his reaction to the doctor’s death, knowing what the scripture says about man, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, …” Hebrews 9:27(KJV)

I thought it was ironic when he told us his reaction to the doctor’s death and perhaps chuckled. It was so strange and different from what we would usually expect from a preacher. But he was honest about his feelings, and I respected him.

We know that the only physician who lives forever is the Great Physician, the Lord Jesus Christ.
