I stand firm on who Jesus is because he has changed my life.

My mother couldn't continue caring for me as a baby because she had mental issues. My father's mother took me to her home to care for me. As a little girl, I vaguely remembered following my grandmother wherever she went in the house because I felt safe with her. It was like I didn't want to lose her, as I was suffering from neglect and fear.

I also had two siblings older than me living with her. But being the last one who experienced more trauma from my mother's illness, my grandmother, as a Christian, understood what I was going through, so she allowed me to follow her around until I was able to be alone in that safe space she created for me to live, grow and be normal.

Growing up, I recognized that Jesus provided that safe space through my grandmother. And because of what he has done for me, I accepted Him as my Savior. I was just a child when I promised Him that I would serve Him. It is a journey, and we walk by faith and not by sight.

The journey is different for each of us. We all have different upbringings and different experiences of meeting Jesus. I saw Him for the first time in the life of my grandmother. Then I met him through His Word: "… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." John 14:6 (KJV), and He saved my soul and brought peace and joy to my life, and I am no longer a slave to fear. Knowing that He is my Savior, I walk in the liberty of my salvation.

And telling others who He is, what He means to me, and what He has done for me, and knowing lives have changed because of my testimony keeps me firm and confident in the faith.
