Increasingly Christians are realizing that maintaining excellent spiritual well-being will need the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit admonishes us to pray without ceasing. Prayer can keep us so that our reaction to life's problems will be correct and sound. Prayer keeps our minds in the Love of God, and the result is a merry heart that loves the Lord and His creation. A merry heart keeps us healthy, wealthy, and wise.
Prayer every day can freshen us up to set the stage for our lives in a positive way: to help create an atmosphere for us to tap into the glory of God and see the privileges we have as His children.
This scripture also reminds me of a recent conversation with a friend. We talked about the importance of our thoughts, the words that come out of our mouths about ourselves daily, and how detrimental it could be if it is harmful and rewarding if it is positive.
We create our atmosphere by our words, and that determines our attitude. If our attitude is positive, then our hearts will be merry. We will be happy praising the Lord and giving thanks unto Him for His loving kindness and mercy towards us.
On the other hand, if our attitude is negative, we will feel sad, agitated, and worried, and that will cause our body and mind to be sick. Many people have broken spirits because of their negativity; they think they are not good enough to be happy and can't be joyful. The Bible tells us to renew our minds. By focusing on Christ, we will find the reason to transform our lives and renew our minds.
A merry heart cultivates the habit of creating its happiness by thinking the right thoughts as Philippians 4:8 NIV instructed and, as a result manifesting the fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peaceā¦. (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV).
A merry heart is an attitude of gratitude that produces health in the bones and strength for the soul, whereas a broken spirit destroys the life of the soul.
Our attitude toward the Word of God determines the condition of our hearts, and a merry heart is the manifestation of a sound mind that believes in God's Word.
