Topic: Proverbs 3:5 (04/06/23)
Sometime last year, I dreamed that a few of us ladies talked about how people are unhappy but show a good front. Two of us concluded that it is an "individual thing." Then the Word of God in Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV came to me. And a voice said, "That's the formula for happiness."

When I woke, I thought of the situation that I was in that caused me to be discouraged and sad. I struggled with my faith and needed encouragement, and the Word of God was my answer.

I am still dealing with the problem but no longer struggle with my faith. I am trusting in the Lord and not looking at what I see, hear, or understand about the situation. I am trusting His Word, and that will bring me through.

I also thought of my life and how often I felt so unhappy even though I am a Christian. I remember when I did not trust the Lord with all my heart and trusted my feelings and thoughts; they lied to me.

I realized the choice was mine and was determined to trust God with all my heart. So, I decided that scripture would be my guiding light through my Christian journey, and whenever I feel tempted to trust my feelings or thoughts, I will remember God's Word.

My life is different now. I have found true happiness, and that is in Jesus. It is a rewarding experience, and there are many benefits along the way. The joy of the Lord is my strength and the assurance that He is with me, and He will never leave or forsake me.

I think about the young woman with the alabaster box in the Bible. She heard about Jesus and how He saved the woman at the well, and she believed that woman's testimony and trusted God that she'd meet Jesus one day. When she saw Him, the odds were against her. Jesus was not preaching or in public; He was with dirty feet at a banquet in Simon the Pharisee's house. No one had washed His feet. She saw her opportunity. She ran home and told her mother about her decision to wash Jesus's feet.

Her mother tried to discourage her and said, "Daughter, I admired your courage, but the days of miracles have passed. How can you get to Jesus?"

"I don't know mother, but I am going to," she answered.

But the woman was determined. She ignored all the facts concerning her life and was moved by faith until she found herself before Jesus and began to wash His feet with her tears. She didn't care how she looked: All she wanted was for her life to be changed. And when Jesus saw her need, He was moved with compassion and forgave her of her sins; she was free from that life that bound her for many years.

She found true happiness in Jesus. And what a rewarding experience it was for her.

Like the woman who washed Jesus feet, our lives are truly changed when we act in faith by choosing to trust Jesus. I like the way that you brought this example into the story, because it helped to drive home the meaning of this proverb. Good writing.
