Simple understanding and application of learned practices enhances professionalism.

Young nurses in training learn skills that will allow them to provide clean, healthy, germfree care to patients. This training of the mind occurs in the form of lectures, tutorials and experiences judged by tutors and supervisors. The study of physiology, diseases, their causes and treatments train them to be performers on the 'floor'. Professional training is a form of preparation for ritualistic intelligent practice. Soldiers, doctors, firemen, cleaners, ambulance men and bank tellers undergo training which results in proficiency in performing tasks in a ritualistic but correct manner. A knowledge bank is created which can be relied on to guide practice.

Biblical rituals were performed as instructed or illustrated in the Bible. Well known ones are male circumcision, keeping the Sabbath and animal sacrifices in the Old Testament; Communion and water baptism in the New. The Father ordained these because they have deep spiritually meaningful significance for His children. The book of Romans addresses circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of Abraham's faith. Circumcision is described as a shadow of things to come.[4:11-13]

Paul dismisses some rituals when he wrote, 'Let no man, therefore, judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ'..{Colossians 2:16-17}

He addresses male circumcision by saying; 'In him, you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ'. As we see, with the coming of Jesus, many rituals lost their spiritual significance and impact. They ceased because His Blood covered sin and no other sacrifices were necessary'.{Colossians 2:11].

Communion has its origin in the time of Jesus. He broke bread and drank wine with his disciples when he was about to be betrayed and crucified.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.{Matthew 26:26 -29} Thus he established a meaningful ritual that we perform to this day. It allows us to remember and worship.

Baptism was performed by John The Baptist in the River Jordan as a type of salvation or rebirth. 'Repent and be baptized' was his message. Many complied, and so did Jesus. When He was leaving this world to return to His Father's Kingdom, He instructed his disciples in the following way; 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” — {Matthew 28:19}

Baptism and Communion are performed to this day
