Topic: SPARKLE (08/19/21)
As I walked toward the front door I could see the sparkle of the lights of the Christmas tree that my family had set up. It was a joyful thing to see. I had just returned from a hard day at work and this lifted my spirits. There is something about the Christmas season. Many people decorate their homes and lights shine at night. The darkness enhances them and cannot overcome them.

As Christians, we know that the darkness of evil cannot overcome The Hope that His Light emits. ‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.’ {John 1:5}. His Light sparkles in our once dark souls so now we are children of The Light, who is Jesus and we are to go forth and spread it. As his children we should sparkle even when things are not joyful by meditating on His promises, reading The Word, doing good deeds, loving our neighbours and speaking Hope; that is how we sparkle in this dark world.

In today’s world, missionaries and Christian ministries like Samaritan’s Purse go into places where no one knows of Christ and spread The Word by their acts of kindness such as providing healthcare, clean water and food. They do not take anything from them. The result is that lives are changed forever. Closer to home, sparkling light-shining neighbours get involved by reaching out, deeds of kindness and being caring. Those small sparkles of light cause people to stop and think ”why are they so kind?”

Acts of kindness are sparkles; they light up the heart and give hope to the world.

This is a lovely, and very Biblical thought, we are lights that sparkle and shine in this dark world. Surely the world needs our light.

I find this article very encouraging. It is sometimes hard to see the sparkle when it is coming from the window of our own eyes, but this writing reminds us that it is shining when we enjoy the Word, spend time in His presence and respond to a broken world with acts of kindness. Good one. Thank you.
