Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to be Miriam? I have. Imagine being the sister of Moses! As she travelled with him and the Israelites through the wilderness, Miriam would have had to do some “inner traveling” in order to become her own called by God. There was even an instance in the Bible where Miriam cries out,“Has not God spoken through Aaron and me as well?” And a result, she is struck by leprosy and exiled to outside the camp for seven days. After the seven days, her skin and fellowship are restored. Miriam had to come to realize that she was not called to be Moses, but she was called.

I have two sisters and a brother. One sister and my brother each dated a lot in high school, and have spouses, grown children, and grandchildren. As someone who never dated, and never married, it’s easy for me to feel “less than.”

Like Miriam, we may have a sibling that seems so much more than us.
--More talented a writer
--More prosperous
--More spiritual

And it is so easy for us to feel “less than”.
--Less talented
--Less accomplished
--Less loved

Through the journey of life, we need to recognize it is God’s design for us to have family and friends who are “more than” us in some ways, just as we are “more than” them in other ways –but God never ever wants us to feel “less than.”

We are more than conquerors through Christ and your “more than” compliments my areas of weakness, and my “more than” compliments your areas of weakness, and together we are strong.

My talents may be less than someone else’s but I never need feel that I am anything less than perfectly created by God for His purpose.

We are not called to be Moses, or Billy Graham, or Joyce Meyer—but we are called.
