Driving through mile upon mile of devastation, seeing my community decimated and my home ravaged from a hurricane, would have immobilized me if I, through the grace of God, had not believed in the goodness of God.
Leaving my home in the Keys, returning to the city where my deepest sorrows began, where shame was so carefully cultivated, could have made me resentful if I, through the grace of God, had not known I would see the goodness of God.
Walking away from a 20 year marriage, realizing I was too shattered to reflect the Father’s love and mercy necessary to be true to my vows, would have crushed my trust in the mystery of God’s ways if I, through the grace of God, had not believed in the goodness of God.
Working through the steps of recovery, into deeply rooted dark enemy territory, exposing brokenness to Light, might have made me give up if I, through the grace of God, had not certainty I would see the goodness of God.
Routine trips to the grocery store, experiencing a strange new reality of fearful masked faces, threatened to overwhelm me if I, through the all sufficient grace of God, had not believed ‘that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.’

This testimony is inspired by my journey over the last 3 years.
*Dedicated to my dear sister in Christ Patty who motivated me to write this. I based loosely it upon her response to my sharing Psalm 27:13 with her one recent morning, with her blessing.
