The hands or the heart that plant may be a farmer’s, a do-gooder or the friend; in soil rich with promise. No thorns nor stones allowed. Thorns will choke while stones expose baby seed to harshness. Thorns are gossip and hate, whereas stones are life’s troubles that work against growth resulting in death of the seed.
Healthy seeds need to hide in the dark, then fed with water and rich soil they sprout. Sprouts reach for food and light and thus grow to the north and south. South are the roots. North are the leaves reaching for the sun.
“Without roots they wither away” {Matthew 13:1-9}
“Look” said the farmer. “My seeds are growing. Soon I will have a harvest.”
In the realm of human life, words spoken are like seeds.
We note that words are very powerful. God spoke Creation into being. When He created seeds, did acts of kindness and spoke words of wisdom; He sowed them into good ground and His intent was to reap a harvest. Good ground produces and does not kill.
Just so, words spoken by those we love or by our Lord Jesus and his disciples brought good into the world and into the hearts and souls of those who believe them.
Kind words and kind acts soften hard hearts. History is replete with tales of pioneers who made it their life’s work to plant and spread seed into the societies and thus opened hearts to the message of salvation and faith in Christ.
Someone planted a seed in you and me; it needed our willing hearts and good soil. So it must not die; let it grow!
Feed it. Watch it sprout by reaching for the Son. Be rooted and grow tall in the Word and in the world produce for Him. Produce the KIngdom of God. Be fed by the Holy Spirit. He will guide you as you sprout and reach outward and upward.
Your visible fruits may be shared with neighbours.
“Love your neighbor as you love yourself” {Mark 12:31 ESV}
Love as you were loved by Jesus; bear His image as ambassadors and his sons. Bring forth a harvest of souls.
