when I was only four.
But sixth grade was the next big step,
then I’d be out the door.
While waiting to become thirteen,
Christmas and birthdays won.
It seemed like ions for years to pass,
before graduation was done.
At twenty-one, no big deal.
But reality slapped my face.
Find yourself, and a job!
A never-ending race.
The clock was ticking, so i married,
anxious to make a home.
In a blink of an eye, between Christmas and birthdays,
My children all were grown.
The empty nest, a bittersweet reward,
has escaped my grasp somehow.
As we raise our grandsons, I patiently wait,
for peace and courage now.
Peace within each day that comes,
while for Jesus, I watch and wait.
My birthday has passed, and Christmas is near.
My lack of patience is great.
