Archangels Michael and Gabriel lay sprawled on cool grass in the dappled shade of a large tree at the edge of the forest.
“That was some meeting.” Gabriel said his head swimming.
“Yes” agreed Michael “This must be one of Jesus' biggest assignments ever. Satan is getting too clever for his own good and his plans must be thwarted. He never gives up 'cos his pride wont let him. We know he is defeated, though, and one day he will find out he can't win.
“He is very crafty and so subtle. He has disguised his schemes very well. The ploy of promoting 'self esteem' especially among the young has resulted in a generation thinking mostly of themselves. Love and generosity towards others has been slowly decreasing” observed Gabriel.
“Too true. Jealousy and Envy have gradually increased the sprinkling of their 'seeds' throughout society. Add to that Materialism's contribution, along with Anger and Hate and Greed's gaining more and more control. It's astonishing how depraved some people can become.
That young man Jack Graham* was heard to say he would do anything for money and he did. He became so obsessed he made a bomb, packed it in his mother's suitcase and drove her to the airport to take the plane. He also took out an insurance policy on her life prior
to take-off. The plane exploded killing everyone on board.”*
“I remember” said Gabriel “ He was responsible for the deaths of 44 people including his own mother but never showed any remorse right up to the time of his execution. Satan must have been rubbing his hands with glee. Another notch in his belt so to speak.”
“That was an extreme example from some time ago, but we need to rally all angels and counter the rapidly rising effect of Greed a soon as possible.”
“I totally agree, there is so much violence associated with Greed. What's your plan?”
“We know it's the Father's will that none should perish**. Therefore all angels watching over those struggling with their faith or back-slidden, need to make every effort to draw them back to Jesus. They must find ways to open their eyes to the enemy's effect on their lives as well as showing them that God loves them. His kindness will lead them to repentance.***
The angels belonging to Jesus followers are to encourage them to reaffirm their first love, to love the Lord God above all others and to love their neighbour as themselves.**** Satan and his demons will put up a fight so it's imperative that all followers learn to wear God's armour and know how to use it. Gabriel would you help the angels do that. You are after all a good warrior?”
“Sure. What else is there?”
“The Holy Spirit will commence stirring the hearts of God's people everywhere to pray for a holy fire to cleanse His church and rid it of ungodly ways. They will be moved to ask for a huge wave of His love, healing and miracles across the earth, showing the almighty power of God and causing a great multitude to enter into His Kingdom. It is vital that all believers understand they have a part to play. It is not the time to sit back and wait for things to happen. It is essential they follow Our Lord's commands and understand Greed can be conquered by generosity and Materialism by thankfulness - but come let us begin our assignment.
They arose and set off to put their plans into effect, unaware they were being watched.
Back in the trees on a white horse sat One wearing a robe inscribed with the words 'King of Kings and Lord of Lords'. Success was assured.
