and grew up in a tradesman's house.
As a Nazarene, he walked everywhere
Doing miracles and good works never before seen.
Betrayed by a friend, tormented and murdered by a crowd
he emerged from his tomb and ascended to God
to be crowned King of Kings.

His name is Jesus.
He lived as a wild man
Ate locusts and honey
and wore self-made camel's skin clothes
Solitary and friendless while pronouncing aloud his message of hope
After meeting his Messiah in the Jordon River
who called him the 'greatest born of women'.
He died a horrific death at the hands of a despotic king.

He was John the Baptizer, a cousin of Jesus.
As the last of seven sons
he was abandoned to shepherding the flocks
while older brothers hung around the house.
He spoke and wrote verse of everlasting beauty
and played songs on a lyre to calm sheep
and a murder-minded king.
A man whose heart God loved*
became king of his nation. *{Acts 13:22}
+++
He was David, a forefather of Jesus
She lived on the Jericho wall
Gave shelter to Joshua's spies
A woman unique in her time
for she knew what the future held.
A prostitute by trade but her family was saved.
Became the mother of Boaz and called
a woman of faith*
{*James 2:25}

She was Rahab and of David and Jesus' line
Quick tempered and impulsive
Vocal to the extreme.
A fisherman by trade, yet he walked on water,
defended Jesus in the garden
but denied knowing him at his trial.
After the coming of the Holy Spirit,
his shadow healed the sick.

He was Peter, a disciple of Jesus.
Persecuted Christ followers
and witnessed Stephen's stoning.
A Roman Pharisee had a Jesus encounter
and he was never the same.
'Handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him
cured the sick and evil spirits left them.'*
Being mightily used of God,
he wrote letters that still teaches the truth.
*{Acts 19:12}

I would have liked a more chronological order, maybe even culminating in the Christians after Paul who have up everything to follow God?
I was not sure if Jesus would be considered a diamond in the rough.
This a very creative piece.
