Come with me and look at these,
these who weave the story well.
Turn the leaves, and let them tell.
In their first light golden hues,
tiny leaves tell quiet news
of the sunlight of God’s Love
reaching down from Heaven above.
Trees grow up, like you and me,
'til they’re full with leaves of green.
Closer now to hear their story.
one that brings our God the glory.
See! There stands the mighty oak,
a sermon strong for many folk.
Through the storms and winds of life,
deep roots hold through day and night.
Softy, see the willow there,
bending low in quiet prayer.
Weeping only lasts a day.
Willow, teach us all to pray.
Towering pine points to the sky
like a steeple rising high,
showing us the Heavens above
where we find the power to love.
Maples take a reddened hue
when the autumn time is due.
Red as Calvary’s setting sun.
Jesus loves us, every one.
Apples, pears, and sweets to suit
all bear witness to the Fruit
that the Holy Spirit brings
through obedience to our King.
Flowering trees are all around.
Magnolias grace warm southern towns.
Beauty fair that turns each face
toward the heavens’ sweet embrace.
Evergreens of fir and cedar
have a story for each reader.
Green that lasts the whole year through.
Life eternal for me and you.
Gather round and read the trees
as they dance upon the breeze.
Hear them clap in praise on high.
May we so joyfully glorify.
“…and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12b KJV
