“What?”
“Give her your time.”
“Who Lord?”
“Tara.”
“Ohhh…Lord…her?”
“Yes.”
“But, Lord she’s just awful, always gossiping, bragging, tells whopper stories, wears the gaudiest clothes for attention and is so obnoxiously loud.” I felt myself begging for release.
“I trust you, Margaret-Rose.”
“Ohhh… Lord,” Margaret-Rose moaned as she sucked in her breath and prepared for what?
It didn’t take long for the ‘what’ to appear as Tara Turnipseed swooped into the church with a bright red cleavage showing top, accentuated with huge gold dangly earrings, and had enough bracelets to join the bell choir. A little too-tight black pants and red high-heeled shoes radiated the perfume she must have bathed in. Tara’s blonde hair was pulled back in a pony-tail to show-off her lovely forty-something face. With eye-brows arched and bright red lipstick glossed on, it actually took away from her physical beauty. Couldn’t she see that?
“Pour into her Margaret-Rose,” God whispered.
Margaret-Rose walked over to Tara and sat beside her in the pew.
“Do you mind?”
Tara shook her head and half smiled.
“Are you having a good morning so far?”
Tara looked sad as she tilted her head down and shook her head no.
Margaret-Rose hesitated thinking… “Should I ask what’s wrong or just let her be?”
“Pour into her.” God whispered again.
Putting her hand on top of hers, Margaret-Rose asked her what was wrong.
Tara’s bottom lip trembled with emotion.
“I met my birth parents this week and they asked that I never visit them again.”
“Ohhh…Lord…its deep rejection.”
“And, my adoptive parents are hurt and angry with me.”
“More rejection, Lord.”
My husband, John, doesn’t understand me at all and has asked for a divorce.”
Margaret-Roses’ heart ripped for the hurt Tara carried.
Tara then stopped and looked into her face… “Why do you ask? You’ve never cared before.”
Her blunt honesty cut to the core. Tears welled up in Margaret-Roses’ eyes and she felt so ashamed.
Tara please forgive me for being judgmental, I care greatly but more importantly, God cares.
Tara smiled slightly and said, “Please forgive me also Margaret-Rose for I too have judged you.”
“You did? In what way?”
“Well, I thought you were an up-tight, self-righteous, I’m better-than-you Christian.”
Stunned from head to toe, Margaret-Rose had no idea she was perceived that way, but was Tara just speaking the truth?
Catching her breath she asked Tara to forgive her and start over.
“Whew Lord…that was tough, so who was to pour into whom?”
“I asked you to pour truth into Tara.”
“I asked Tara to pour truth into you.”
