Topic: Autumn/Fall (08/27/09)
I walk amid the colored leaves
So quickly falling from the trees.
A crisp and rustling kind of sound
Travels with them to the ground.

Golden, orange, and vibrant red
To warn me of the days ahead.
When snow will fly, with bitter cold,
Winter’s fury, strong and bold.

But what a gentle way to see
The season that so soon will be.
With colors and delightful sounds
The Master’s love, how it abounds!

The leaves, a carpet of delight,
My feet enjoy the sound and sight
Of walking on them as they fall,
A gift from God to one and all.

I thank Him as I stand amazed
For His goodness and His ways.
For little things like changing leaves
That tell a story from the trees.

And as I ponder on these things,
I realize so much more He brings
Through nature, so that I will know
How deep the love He does bestow.

Winter is a time to rest
For earth and man, God’s love at best.
The shorter days with cold and snow,
More time to slumber and to grow.

The land is frozen, stuck in time,
And all is quiet, peace divine.
And while at rest I learn and grow,
Such special times with God I know.

Then green appears, snow melts away,
And spring is here. It’s here to stay!
With blossoming trees and flowers too,
And longer days, so much to do.

Plants and trees, the birds and bees,
All alive with spring to please
My human eyes, that I may find
God’s love again for all mankind.

Summer follows, long hazy days,
Filled with fun in so many ways.
The early rising summer sun
Sets late, allowing work and fun!

And then the autumn skies appear
To harvest what has grown this year.
Such plenty from my God above,
A sign of His unfailing love.

Summer is now a memory
Of fun and frolic, how can it be?
Fall has come, another year,
Oh how the seasons disappear!

And then again, the towering trees
Turn color with their falling leaves.
Another cycle of life will start,
The seasons, all gifts from the Father’s heart.

Looking down from His Heavenly throne
I know God loves this earthly home.
Perfectly planned, and I know the reason
Why His infinite love is in every season!

This poem is lovely and delightful! You captured the seasons beautifully, especially fall and winter. Many great lines and thoughts here. Good job!

I enjoyed the circle made in the poem from one autumn to the next. A lovely way to show God's love through all of the seasons.

Beautiful rhyme. Thanks for helping to rhyme away some old thoughts about autumn and winter and paint new pictures of how beautiful these seasons can be. I have returned to my roots in the Midwest after living in the desert for many years.
