Behold the child in the manger lies,
Nursed and cared for by His mother!
The passer-by might wonder why
He’s more special than an’ other---
This virgin-born is the blessing sworn
To faithful Abraham by God,
Whose Seed would bless all lands on earth---
It’s the first advent of The Lord.

Behold the Lamb---The Son of Man
Baptized by John in water!
Came to His own though little known---
Was anointed by His Father;
In word and deed His life agreed
With the Holy Spirit’s leading---
Redemption’s plan---the perfect Man,
To His Father’s will acceding.

Behold the Man---The spotless Lamb
As He takes the sinners’ sentence!
The veil is torn, the rocks are shorn---
Through His death God grants repentance;
The grave can’t hold His sinless soul---
By God’s Hand He’s resurrected---
Through faith in Him God pardons sin---
In Christ Jesus we’re accepted!

Behold the Lion, the Prince of Zion
Who is coming in His Kingdom!
There perfect peace and truth increase
In His reign of righteous wisdom.
“Good will to men” will prosper then,
The peace of God fills all the earth;
We long and pray for that great day
Proclaimed by angels at His birth.

So Passer-by don’t wonder why
He’s more special than an’ other---
God’s only Son, The Blessed One
Is our Saviour, yet our Brother---
He’s the reason for the season,
He’s our great God and Lord and King---
Revelation’s explanation
Forever hid and found in Him.
