"These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full." (John 15:11 NKJV)
With my naturally inquisitive attitude, I have to know why something is proposed or done and for what purpose. I want to know what I am getting into before I jump. Because I don't do things as everyone else does, I am a peculiar person who finds joy in the mundane things of life. I enjoy living counter-culturally.
When I venture out to do a few mundane errands, I often encounter folks who have become talking heads, repeating what they have seen and heard, never giving any of it a second thought or wondering what it means. No! You and I are not like that: we are the counterculture people. That means we have Biblical values and behaviors that differ substantially from mainstream ones: indeed, they are usually diametrically opposed to the stream. When these values become strong enough, they can cause dramatic cultural changes. Right now, we have two sides, and we must choose to go the way of the right one.
Living counter-culturally means being different, sometimes way different. Let me tell you of a few ways I have learned to buck the system, and you can do the same.
1. Train yourself to look beyond what "everyone" is saying or doing.
2. Turn off the mainstream "news," which is no longer news but propaganda.
3. Do not fear!
4. Live lives committed to Biblical truth, justice, free thought, individually, and the US constitution.
5. Align yourself with people who share your values.
6. Be knowledgeable about the past as it affects the present and the future.
7. Understand that most of today's twenty-somethings think it would be far better to live in a socialist, even communist nation instead of the capitalist one as they have been taught. With no knowledge of the past, how can they think otherwise? You and I have the opportunity to share the truth with them, but we must always do it with love and compassion. What a privilege and a joy it is to share the wonderful counter-cultural life with them. If they reject us and our stance, it is still a joy to know that we had the chance to tell them things that they might remember at some future time when the need is there.
We are strong, and we will prevail. As we stand for Biblical truth and justice, not giving in to the demands of our anti-Christ culture, we will overcome the evils of socialism and communism. It takes all of us to live and proclaim the truth now while we have a voice. We are joyfully committed to standing up for what is true and correct. It feels good to be a part of this movement.
