Are we combustible material? A little spark starts within each one of us. At the proper time, the Holy Spirit gently breathes on it and fans it into a small flame. The little flame grows and spreads as people leave their pasts behind and embrace new births and new lives. The now fully burning flame in us brushes against the little kindling sticks and smoldering embers and they too are ignited. They become unquenchable.
Herein lies the challenge: We must let the Lord work and not stop Him. We each have at least a spark inside of us if we belong to Jesus, i.e., if we have allowed Him to be our Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit will gently blow on that little spark and fan it into flame. The flame will touch others and cause them to leave their old lives of sin and step into new lives with Jesus. Everyone that we brush against in life will be touched. Some will ignore it, and some will outright reject it, but those who have that little spark inside will open their hearts to the Holy Spirit as He fans it into flame. Hence the Body of Christ grows.
What should we do? If all that we have is that little spark, we need only to recognize and receive the Holy Spirit as He gently blows His loving breath on it. It will ignite as combustion occurs. This is the beginning of personal revival in our own hearts. Our job then is to love others and not get in His way at any point as He works in their lives. He is the only One who can redirect a life and bring about revival in His Body, the Church.
