At various times each year, many orchard caretakers are working doing all types of work the orchard requires to produce top quality fruit. It maybe irrigating the trees, cultivating between the trees, the annual pruning, or picking the crop that takes many hours of labor.
When pruning the trees, the dead ones are replaced by young healthy trees. Some trees grow extra tall and have few producing branches. While other trees have too many branches growing in all directions with small size fruit at harvest time. By pruning the trees they concentrate on producing the top quality of fruit the market demands,
Our country church had a young visiting preacher and in the Sunday morning service and he gave us a message from the Lord about pruning. John 15:1-2 " I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit , he purgeth ( prune) it, that it bring forth more fruit."
I recently had an falling accident where I broke my left wrist and damaged my right hand, so have a cast on left hand and a temporary sling on my right hand. The many orders of handmade fishing rigs and snelled hooks will have to wait for several weeks. I have been supplying tackle to stores for over 47 years and find myself putting my work ahead of serving the Lord.
Unable to perform the tackle making tasks, I am now spending more time in prayer and reading the Bible. The visits to the hospital and doctors opened the door to handing out hundreds of pen lights with the message " The Lord Is My Light And Salvation". I praise the Lord that he protected me from a major bone break as He pruned me to better serve the Lord.
