This week I had an area of skin cancer removed from my forehead on Thursday requiring many stitches and a large patch. The doctor said to take it easy for several days. I asked about watering and working in the garden and was told Sunday I could water but to stay out of the heat and sun. On Friday a man from our church watered the garden real well, so was able to skip the watering on Saturday.
On Sunday, the day was very windy, as we attended church in the morning and at the evening service. Our country church is only 6 miles from our farm and the wind was strong and cold when we arrived for the evening worship. I prayed for the Lord to quiet the strong winds, but they were still terrible when we left the church. On the country road back to the farm, prayer and praise to the Lord was on my lips.
As we pulled into our circular driveway on the farm, I noticed the winds on our trees had stopped blowing and only a few leaves were moving. My wife commented on the neighbors much taller trees, as top branches were being blown and waving in the wind. I quickly changed into my farm work clothes with a sweater to keep warm and headed to the garden. As I began the half hour plant watering, I realized there was no wind and it had warmed up, so I discarded the sweater. In a few minutes, as the sun descended below the coastal range mountains, darkness quickly arrived , but I had finished the garden watering. The Lord had answered my prayer as the Bible says in my favorite passage. Matthew 21:22, " And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
The Lord quieted the winds over my garden, so the watering was successfully accomplished and the young tender plants will continue to grow. I pray and praise the Lord for the gracious and loving blessings he has given me all my life, as I try to be his servant and walk in his steps.
