“Aw sheep-skins, there goes my afternoon of golf. I bet she wants me to clean out the stalls.”
As he pulled it from his pocket, the cell phone buzzed.
“Really, a call AND a text!”
He threw the staff to the ground. Without checking caller ID, he reluctantly answered.
“Yeah, it’s me!”
“Moses! Moses!” declared a deep, commanding voice, “Go to the other side of that mountain!”
Without hesitation, Moses grabbed his staff and rushed to the mountain side, reading the text on the way.
‘He’s out again!’
The message from his wife referred to the same little sheep that kept wandering out of the pen. He was torn, but the other side of the mountain called to him.
To his amazement he saw flames shooting out from a 64-inch television. But the TV was NOT burning up! He had never seen anything like this before. With an arm protecting his face he approached. The flames flared up 20 feet and he could feel the heat. His shaking hand reached for the remote control.
“MOSES, go and tell my people that I AM going to save them!” the voice roared from the flames.
Panicking, he randomly squeezed the remote control buttons. The channels changed but the fiery scene would not disappear. His thumb went for the power button to no avail. The flames blasted higher and he dodged them by jumping behind a rock.
With trembling hands he took out his cell. The letters he pushed were jumbled but spell-check helped.
John offered Paul a bite of locusts. Paul cringed and declined. Simultaneously a musical tune and harsh buzz got their attentions. They each grabbed their phones.
“It’s Moses. He’s at it again.” said John.
“Big fire from TV?” Paul mused.
John typed on his laptop computer- ‘fire in TV.’ Many options popped up. As he was searching, an email notification alerted him.
“Tell them to turn back to ME.”
John knew the message was serious.
Paul’s phone vibrated but it was not from Moses this time.
“Paul, tell them about My Love!”
Instantaneously, John and Paul looked at each other, jumped up and raced to go find Moses.
On the way they saw Lynn and beckoned her to come.
When John, Paul and Lynn arrived Moses was walking toward flames. The three were overcome by the blue, red, yellow blaze. Approaching where Moses was standing they could feel the intense heat.
Too late to stop him, Moses stepped into the fiery TV! Next, John leaped in. Immediately, Paul followed. Lynn was left there alone and confused. The heat was gone. Only an extreme bright light gleamed from the TV. Even with her eyes shut Lynn could see the glow. Then she heard voices.
“God can save you.” It was Moses.
“Lynn, turn from your ways and turn to God.” John declared.
“Jesus loves you.” Paul’s tender voice announced.
The light faded to black. The inferno returned. A mountain of television sets were burning with flames reaching toward Lynn. Cell phones, Ipads and computers were falling from the sky by the thousands. Lynn crouched to take cover. The ground began to shake violently. No, it was not the ground. It was her body that was convulsing. Sweat poured out and drenched her clothes. She began to writhe in pain from her pounding head.
“Lynn, Lynn, wake up.” The calm voice tried to sooth her.
Lynn opened her eyes. Through her blurred vision she saw her mom right by her side where she had always been. She stifled her nausea and stuttered.
“Mom, you won’t believe what I just dreamed. It was amazing. There was Moses and a fire and John and cell phones and Paul and the light. The light! The light was the brightest!”
The light was now illuminating Lynn’s heart.
“Mom, can you please tell me more about Jesus being better than anything!”
As tears welled up, her mom said a silent ‘thank you’ to God and began tell Lynn that God can save her, that she can turn from her sinful ways and that Jesus loves her.
(Author’s note: any addiction is serious. God can give us His freedom from addictions and help us to put HIM first! Jesus is better than anything this world offers)
