Hear the squealing,
Girls are pouring through the door,
Leaders steering,
New Mums fearing
What ‘their treasure’ may endure.
Happy greeting,
Old friends meeting,
Rivals beating,
More competing,
What’ve we let ourselves in for?
Summer Camp is here once more.
Wild unpacking,
Bed hijacking,
‘Who will sleep beside the door’?
Clothes for sharing,
Much comparing,
Vests and hoodies, tops galore.
Many contests,
Competition,
Struggles against
Opposition.
This the fun they’ve waited for,
Summer Camp’s the best for sure.
Long days hiking,
Tours of cycling,
Climbing mountains high and steep,
Attempt caving,
Daylight craving
As through potholes slowly creep.
Thus exhausted,
Feeling shattered,
Had a great time
What else mattered?
Feel like collapsing in a heap,
Will they ever go to sleep?
Bibles open,
Words are spoken
Of The Way, the Truth, the Light.
Hearts convicted,
Burdens lifted,
As truth dawns upon the sight.
Young hearts trusting,
Meet the Saviour,
Lives are changed,
(And so’s behaviour!)
See God working in His Might.
Summer Camp – a great delight.
