This little light of mine...
The B-I-B-L-E, yes that’s the book for me...
The gentle milk of Sunday school
Tiny pieces of the meat mixed into stories.
Tiny Daniel stood up to HUGE Goliath...
No, Daniel was in the lion’s den.
Na-uh! Uh-huh! Na-uh!
Stories mixed up! What a jumbled mess!
Does anyone know where this belongs?
There’s too many Joseph’s in the Bible.
Is this Mary’s husband?
No, it’s the kid with the rainbow coat.
Children are laughing and growing
Can we introduce them to some real meat?
Who is your neighbor?
The person who lives next door—DUH!
Fine, who did Jesus say your neighbor was?
Lessons carefully prepared. Do you have food?
Snacks? Oh no! The kids can’t focus without food!
Who is my neighbor? Is it the person that I don’t like?
Why would you say that? And don’t use ‘God, Jesus, or Bible.’
‘Cause the Sam-sam-Samaritan-guy helped a person they didn’t like?
Slowly, the knowledge sinks in.
How to get them to apply it?
Why do we have to be here? I hate this color!
We’re here to help the people here at the shelter.
But why? They haven’t done anything for me...
Trying to mold young minds into the image of God,
But the resistance is strong. God help us all.
It’s quiet in the classroom. A teacher drones on.
Why are we here? Does any of this matter to me?
Why should I care who was what king when?
Useless words hang in the air. As forgotten songs
And applications are lost to us all.
...the Bible tells me so...
...let it shine...
...the B-I-B-L-E!

You're a gifted poet, that's for sure.
That pretty much sums this all up.
I loved this piece! It was simple and direct, the clarity, the descriptions and the way you crafted this was just beautiful! ^_^ Excellent writing!
