That is until she met Fred Wannabe. Fred was the kind of guy who didn’t like any kind of music or singing. At first, it didn’t bother Tonia because she was falling in love with him but as the days, weeks and months rolled by, she felt uneasy about his feelings toward music and singing.
Fred liked to hike, play golf and most other outside activities and that was fine with Tonia because she liked those activities, too. It’s just that she loved to sing and listen to music because it made her feel happy, free and full of life. And, she wanted so much to share that happiness with Fred. But, he would have no part of it.
Fred asked her to marry him around Thanksgiving and Tonia was giving serious thought to the proposal. But, the issue of music kept growing and every time she would put on some music or begin to sing, he began talking loudly about things that just didn’t matter and those interruptions were bothersome and irritating. “What to do,” she thought.
It was at church one day when Tonia was singing along with the Processional hymn that Fred did something that tore the relationship apart. He got up from the pew, and walked briskly out the front church door. He left her standing there all alone, singing the church hymn. That’s when she decided that the relationship with Fred was over.
She walked home by herself and later had some lunch. Around one o’clock in the afternoon, Fred called and tried to explain his behavior. He said that he wasn’t feeling well and that’s why he left but she could tell by the tone in his voice that he was lying.
Things were never the same after that and weeks later, Tonia ended the relationship.
Fred’s feelings were hurt because he did love her but it wasn’t long before he found someone new, someone who didn’t care at all about music.
As fate would have it, a month later Tonia met a kind and wonderful man at church and she was pleased to find out that he was a choir director and that he loved all types of music.
Tonia was so happy knowing that even though her relationship with Fred had ended on a sour note, a new beginning had arrived with Stan and now instead of her singing alone, she was singing with someone who loved her and music and that was a song that would last a lifetime!
