Lisa awoke early, turning to the sunlight with a smile on her face. She literally bounced out of bed, continuing a dance on the hardwood floor. Yesterday had been the best day of her life! The new job included an opulent, luxurious office with a salary to match. She would put on a pot of coffee and make phone calls to spread the good news. Why not? Church attendance would be at a minimum at best with her new travel schedule.
Pastor Jim lay thinking on this bright and glorious morning. He went over the details of his conversation with the pastoral intern. He knew there were several churches in his denomination, along with some scholars and theologians, doing research and changing doctrine. Could their belief be true and the Bible was changed all of those years ago? Had the goddess been part of Christianity?
Joan turned over in bed, too discouraged to get up. How could the sun be shining today? It should be hidden behind a dark cloud, along with her joy. Giving up her dream of becoming a Christian writer was heart wrenching. She knew now she had absolutely no talent. There had been one rejection after another. Her friends and family were only trying to be kind after all.
Tom pressed both hands against his aching head. He hadn't been out with his college buddies or touched alcohol in years. It had been a wild night, just like old times. He slowly raised an eyelid and peeked at the clock. Madeline and the girls had left for church by now. All he needed was some aspirin and more sleep.
And on this bright Sabbath morning, the small demonic creature slid quietly out of Lisa's bedroom.
And a hiss was heard in the spirit world as another follower of the enemy took a first step into the realm of darkness.
Evil laughter caught like wildfire as one more dream was dashed for the kingdom of light.
The golden elixir was beginning to work its magic once again as it had so many times in so many ways. The enticing liquid just might work here.
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6: 10-12
