When I was in grade 7, I also went to church once a week to have a bible study with boys and from my age group. It was called catechism. Kids were grade 7-12 attended the group. Sometimes other kids argued about the bible because they didn't agree with teachers. I didn't like to attending the group as well as like GEMS, but my parents made me go up until I was in grade 12.
When I was in grade 11, I attended youth group, I really liked it. We went on weekend Retreats, and I enjoyed it. A few times I played the piano up in the loft of the barn so that I could also have some quiet time.
When I was in high school I choose drink alcohol because I didn't feel good about myself. I drank my parents booze. I chose the wrong path! There are times when I didn't care, but I still attended church. When I went to school, I felt like hurting myself. I was being bullied by this boy who often stood out in the hall way. He stole my quarter because I was trying to use the payphone. We didn't use cell phones back then. I did poorly in biology which encouraged me to drink.
When I was 19, I drank because my self-confidence was almost zero. I took my first course at the college, and I was working, but I still didn't feel very good about myself. I drank most of my parents alcohol one night when my parents went out to visit my grandparents. I had deep depression.
I woke up, and I had vomited food all over myself, and I myself cleaned up, and my pillow was all dirty. I had a headache. I still went to work and to school at night. My mother lectured me about drinking her booze. She and my father drank wine every night for dinner. She also drank a bit of whiskey any other alcohol in her drink. My father drank beer.
As I got older I still drank when I had a hard time at work with my boss or my coworker. A few times I drank at a strip bar. I got kicked out of a night club for saying something about hurting myself to one of the bartenders. The manager kicked me out. Another time when I was at the same night club, I got kicked out for spinning around the dance floor, and drinking. After that, I never came back at the club again!
When I got pregnant with my son, I had a urge to drink, so I tried to into a liquor store, but it was closed. I guess they did me a favor there. I went home, and I rested, and prayed I would be a good mother, and I was. I had another child almost eight years later, and I hardly ever drink booze. I don't drink booze now, and I think that's worth it. My husband does not drink either. I take prescribed medication for my depression. I also do recreational activities like skating swimming.
I attend a ladies bible study once a week. I felt that I choose the right path.
