When I entered high school. I was bullied by a few guys and a girl who I attended most of my classes with. I was told deal with it or ignore them by my parents, and my teachers. They were all fed up with me. It was a wonder how lived through it all. It was a good thing that I was not physically sick, but I was emotionally ill. I cried a lot coming on the bus, and when I came home. I had a few friends who I went to school with. One of them knew as to what I was going through.
In grade 12, I struggled with a few subjects which were biology and math. I failed those subjects during exams. I passed those courses when I started high school, but I didn't feel good about myself. My parents were not mad at me at all which was good. I would have felt worse about myself if they were furious with me. However, I passed my other subjects, and I graduated from grade 12.
In my late teens I dated a boy whom I went to high school with. When he wanted to slow things down, and not take me to the school dance, I felt like he didn't like me. He told me all these excuses that he was busy. This was before I had a job in a restaurant. I felt lonely when I was home because I wanted a boyfriend so I answered an ad in the paper, and my parents were furious with me. They were afraid that my life would be in danger. This incident 3 years before I met my husband. We dated off and on, but I felt that he controlled me.
I dated a Christian man from dating service. On our first date, we had dinner together, and I went to his place a few times. He told me that he loved me, and I loved him. He went to bible study with him. After a month of seeing him, he told that he wanted to just be friends with me. So he lied to me about loving me. I drank alcohol, and when I moved out on my own, I bought a guinea pig to keep me company, but when I came home from work, I still felt lonely. I met another guy from another dating service. He was decent, but we did not love each other. I took me place like the movies out to eat. He drank booze, too.
Today I am married for 24 years, and no longer drink. I have son and a daughter. I attend church each week. I also attend a ladies bible study group. So, I try to keep myself sane even though I feel broken or hopeless about things to come in the future.
