“It’s me, Lord, Jeremy and in five hours I will be in front of our congregation delivering the message I prepared. Now you have a new message for me to share.
This isn’t the first time you have caught me off guard Lord.
After being adopted by a wealthy and influential family, raised in the lap of luxury, and having everything the world could offer. You placed a burden on
my heart for those who served our family as I saw how hard they worked and how badly they were treated. They could never do enough to please my grandfather.
I wanted to help but they resented me because I was born from one of their
own but I lived in luxury while they lived as slaves.
Walking in the garden one morning, I saw the house manager screaming at
the gardener and hitting him. In a moment of anger, I grabbed the manager
and beat him. Now, fearful of my grandfather a cruel man, running away seemed my only option. So run I did, as far and fast as I could!
Eventually, coming to a large farm. I approached the farmer to inquire if there might be work I could do for room and board. He offered me a job helping with chores and the animals. You, Lord, provided that job!
Not long after that, you provided a wife and family. I married that farmer's daughter and we had a son and named him Wallace.

The difficulties in my past had humbled me. You gave me a new life of quiet contentment. I was happy just staying in the background, working on the farm, caring for my family, worshipping you, and quietly serving you at our small country church.
But you had another plan for me. One Sunday afternoon Pastor George approached me saying, “Jeremy, I’m here to ask you for help with a project. After praying, I feel God has directed me to you for the job. It involves leading negotiations for purchasing land next to the church property. We need the
land to expand to meet the needs of our growing church family. Immediately I objected, explaining “Talking isn’t one of my gifts, surely someone else would
be a better candidate.” Pastor replied, “I have another man in mind who could help you but God has made it clear you are the man to lead.”
Brother Allen and I met with the landowner together. Allen being the spokesperson and I confirming the purpose and plan for the purchase. Negotiations were long and difficult. It took ten weeks before we could close
the deal. In the end, we got the land we needed to expand and we did. You, Lord, provided the land!
A few years later, I accepted your call into the ministry taking all you taught
me along the way.
Now I have a new calling pastoring this same church.
I humbly stand on this platform this morning to share your message, Lord.
May it be acceptable in your sight and bring you glory. May it be a message of hope and courage for each one under its hearing.
The Message
I stand here before you in awe of all God has done in my life and this ministry.
We don’t know what our future holds but our God does and He can
accomplish anything He wants through anyone.
He took me, from a life full of worldly things but no peace, forgave my sins,
and gave me a new life of peace and contentment. Humbled by past mistakes, taking this orphaned child and making me His child. This one who couldn’t speak he called to be His voice in this world.
Where have you been?
Where are you now?
Where is God calling you to?
Does it seem impossible, too hard., too risky?
Numbers 12:3 tells us Moses, the great leader who led the people out of slavery in Egypt to the promised land “Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people on the face of the earth” Numbers 12:3 ESV
Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 ESV *
Psalm 37:11 (ESV) Tells us “But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.”
