Billy was out on a fishing trip. He would come out of his tent every morning and go for a walk to enjoy the freshness of the morning atmosphere. As he walked, he bathed in the beauty of God's handy works—the mountains, the sky, and the desert.

One day he was out to view the mountains, and with his binoculars, he saw an old mother eagle sitting on a mountain top. She caught his attention.

Billy loved birds, especially the eagle, "The master of the sky."

He watched her throw out her enormous wings, and the little eagles caught hold of them, and down they went into the valley. It was the first time the little eagles were out of their nest, and they were so excited. Down in the valley, the old mother eagle threw out her wings again, and the little eagles started to run around. Their little feet touched soft ground upon the grass for the first time, and they began feeding on it. Then the mother eagle flew back to the mountain top and sat upon a rock, watching her little eagles.

Billy thought of the Christian life. How wonderful Jesus is taking care of His children! He is giving us freedom like the little eagles, running carefree, having a glorious time in the Holy Ghost while He is watching us like the mother eagle.

As Billy continued to watch her, the mother eagle suddenly looked up, squalled, and down she went into the valley. She threw out her great majestic wings and let out a scream, and those eaglets left off eating immediately and rushed to their mother. Their little bill grabbed and held on to her wings. Before she got off the ground, the storm was already sweeping through the hollow.

Billy looked in amazement at how the mother eagle pierced that storm, blowing sixty miles an hour with her little ones holding on to her wings. And off they went into the cleft of a rock.

As he stood in awe, he thought, "Oh God, one of these days there's coming a scream from heaven, the trumpet of God shall sound, and every Christian on the wings of the old rugged cross, piercing the storms of life and into the cleft of the Rock, Christ Jesus." And what a glorious sight that will be!
