Simon, the Pharisee was in the temple when Jesus upbraided them of their hypocrisy. He told them of their hidden worldly desires, their greed and self-indulgence. He said they were like whitewashed tombs, beautiful outside but full of dead men's bones. And Simon was furious. He left the temple in a rage, vowing that he would find a way to challenge Jesus' teachings.

A few days after, the Pharisees and the Sadducees had a ministerial meeting. The Sadducees were the wealthy upper class involved with the priesthood, unlike the Pharisees who revolved around the temple. Both organisms decided that Jesus was not a prophet. After the meeting, Simon was satisfied and left with a high spirit because he found a reason to expose Jesus. I believe that Simon knew in his heart that Jesus was a prophet, but because Jesus had exposed their hypocrisy, he agreed with what the other ministers decided.

Finally, he saw the opportunity to expose Jesus when he heard that Jesus was coming to the city which he lived to keep meetings. He decided to have a banquet at his house and invite Him.

He invited all the rich and prestigious ones in the city and his organism. He wanted them to see Jesus belittled, and as a result, there would be no meetings. Simon failed to realize that he was dealing with the one who knows the hearts of men.

He sent one of his young servants to search for Jesus to give Him His invitation. It took the young man three days to find Jesus.
When he found Jesus, he was tired of traveling from one place to another, and Jesus also was tired of preaching from one city to the other. Jesus was about to take a rest when one of His disciples came to Him and told Him that there was a young man with an important message for Him. The disciple told Jesus that he informed the young man that He was tired and would not be able to speak with Him at that time, but he insisted that the message was urgent and from a very influential person. So, Jesus said, "Bring him to me."

The young man was so grateful that he had found Jesus and went to Him humbly, bowing before Him thanking Him for letting him see Him. He said to Jesus that his master, Simon, an affluent and influential person in the city, invited Him to be the guest of honor at his banquet. Jesus opened the invitation and looked at the young man. Then he remembered that day in the temple when He upbraided the Pharisees and Simon was there. Jesus recalled Simon leaving the temple in a rage. He knew that the Pharisees hated Him, and He perceived that Simon had a different plan than what he said in the invitation. However, Jesus accepted the invitation and promised to be there.

The young man was so happy that Jesus promised to be there, that he told Simon that he could count on Jesus to show up.
That day Jesus traveled the long dusty road, and His feet were dirty when He reached Simon's house. And no one came out to wash His feet and to anoint Him with oil. Jesus sat there like an unwelcome guest unattended. But He was there for a reason.

A sinful woman in the city heard that Jesus would be in town to attend the banquet at Simon’s house. She had heard about the woman at the well and desired to meet Him. She was tired of her sinful life and wanted a change. That time she walked by Simon's house and saw Jesus unattended, and no one was there to wash His dirty feet. She said within herself, "This is my opportunity to attend to Him." She didn't' know how, but it was in her heart to do. She dashed home, went into the money box, and collected all the money she had.
She didn't know what she was doing but felt driven by an unseen force. She ran to the shop, bought the most expensive alabaster box of ointment, and returned to Simon's house.
How she got in, no one knows. She stood behind Jesus weeping and began to wash His feet with her tears, and with her hair she dried His feet, and kissed His feet and anointed them with the oil.

Jesus knew her need. And said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
