I ordered online
A box of “Self-Control”
Advertised as “One of a kind!”
By UPS
It arrived today!
So, I quickly opened the box
And read what the instructions had to say!
They instructed the buyer
To use a little each day
In order to be careful
Of what one might do or say!
It went on to advise
That just a little “Self-Control”
Would be good to use
For both one’s body and one’s soul!
It also suggested its use
To meet one’s goal,
Of bringing one’s emotions
under control.
A few buyers’ comments
Were also there to read,
Which rated the product highly
And said it was “Good indeed!”
One said its use
Would also help
In keeping one’s thoughts and emotions
To oneself!
So, I will use the product
Every day!
Be patient, avert anger,
And watch what I do and say!
I will try not to make foolish decisions
Based on impulse feelings,
But follow the teachings of Jesus
In all my actions and my dealings!
The “fruit of the Spirit”
As Paul wrote in Galatians, Chapter five,
I think are the results of this “Self-Control,”
To which we must all strive!
