And so this season shall also pass. In its time the sun will shine again, birds will sing and flowers will bloom, for ' He hath made every thing beautiful in its time'. The stages of life pass on too. There is a time to be born and at the end of life, a time to die. In between there are periods of waiting, of anxiety, of doubts and a lot of stress.
These periods of waiting seem to lengthen as life nears its end. At least it does to me. Old age has a way of sapping my energy, my enthusiasm, and my memory. But the Preacher assures me that these periods of waiting is a gift from God to me, to rejoice and do good in life. God did not create me to be miserable. This time is given to me to rest and meditate on God's goodness and be thankful. It is a time for praise and worship. If I allow him, Satan, will turn my gift into a curse by creating stress and unbelief. If I seek God, He will strengthen my faith and trust, and bless me with the art of being patient under all circumstances. St. Paul says in his letter to the Galatians, that long suffering is one of the 'fruits of the Holy Spirit'. And this is what the Preacher says is the Gift of God.
Soon, I know, the North wind will blow the snow in, and all the earth will be covered with sparkling white and turned into a winter Wonder Land. Church bells will chime and heavenly music will fill the air announcing the birth of Christ our Savoir, proclaiming Joy to the world and Peace on earth.
