Mom, the one person on this earth you can always count on.
She has been there from day one, maybe it started with breast feeding. The hours of nursing , when a bottle would have given her more time for herself, but she chose to have that one on one time with you, giving you the healthiest start a child could have. The nutrition God formed in her body just for you. She was there to wipe your tears, kiss your boo boos, comfort you when you were sad, scared or afraid. Once you were born her life was devoted to take care of you and as the scriptures says
“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 NASB
You have learned to depend on her, to know she will always be there if you need something. There is only one love stronger and more reliable then Moms. The love of God, you can count on Him 24/7. You only need to give yourself to Him daily and He is always there waiting to spend time with you, to listen and help.
You hear all the time about your daily devotional, your time set aside just to walk, talk and listen to God. Those times can be the most rewarding times of your life. That Still small voice whispering in your ear, you know deep in your heart it is your Father speaking to you. Giving you direction, instruction, and loving peace just as you felt so many times in your life, from your Mom.
Jesus gave us the ultimate example to follow. He went so many times off by Hisself to spend time with His father. Getting guidance for the next step in life was very much a part of His life and should be for us as well. One of the most important things Jesus taught was
Matthew 10:27 NASB
“What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.”
Jesus devoted His time here on earth to doing what he heard His father say while he was in the quiet place with Him. There are so many distractions today, we often forget how important having that quiet time with God is. The place where He talks to us and where we talk to Him and listen. Listening is such an important part of our Walk with God as young Samuel found out one night lying in bed.
I Samuel 3:7-10
“Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, nor had the word of the LORD yet been revealed to him. So the LORD called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." Then Eli discerned that the LORD was calling the boy. And Eli said to Samuel, "Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, 'Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Then the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, for Your servant is listening."”
Let us also say “Speak, for Your servant is listening”.
