“A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory.”
If we are bruised, Jesus will not break us, but He will help and restore us. He will support us where we are weak and reposition us in such a way as to take the strain away from our bruise. He will wrap the weak spot in His love and cover it with a mantle of peace to make it whole again.
.
If our fire is about to go out, He will not quench it. Rather He will blow on the embers with His divine power and fan the flame until it is blazing brilliantly again.
Christ followers are able to bear all things through Christ who strengthens us. It is highly likely that we will experience both times of lack and times of plenty as we travel through life. The main thing to remember is that it is only through Him that we can do all that He requires of us. The Apostle Paul says it so well:
“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11–13 (NKJV)
What a wonderful God! He knows that we need His strength to be flexible enough to bend without breaking. He made it possible for us to adapt to life’s ups and downs with pliable strength. We are well equipped in every situation.
