Ethan Young, had been an exuberant young man, when the company had recruited him. He had just finished grad school at the University of Maryland. Graduating with a doctorate in Sacred Theology and had majored in Archaeology for a dual degree. All through his childhood he dreamt of being an archaeologist. Just like Indiana Jones! Ethan’s parents worked day and night trying to save up enough for his college. Of course , since he decided to do a double major; they were left lacking funds. Forcing Ethan to obtain a full time job and take out a major school loan. Which just about broke him down, mentally. It had been 10 years of solid work to finally graduate but he did it. He was in debt up to his eyeballs! He had owed the United States Gov’t 100k, and had no clue how he was going to repay it. He would probably die an old man still owing them.
Mrs. Dawn, his college advisor had worked with him on so many job applications, and yet he hadn’t received even one reply. Six months after graduating, he was stuck in a dead end job writing reports for a no name law firm. Not his cup of tea! He was by all means meant to do more with his career. Life was a puzzle at this time in his life. He was going nowhere fast. Stuck in his old bedroom; living with his parents! He had to do something fast. Bills were piling up and he was about ready to give up! Three days later his life was about to be turned upside down. It was a crappy existence, but it was his nonetheless.
Ethan had just got home, from a long rigorous day at the office. Walking in his ,mother Theresa started jumping all-around. “Ethan, come here. You need to hear this.” Theresa exclaimed! He was confused but he had nothing better to do. He leisurely walked over to the end table his mother was standing by. “What's so important mom?” Ethan, asked as he bent down to kiss her forehead.
“The answering machine, push play.” Theresa blurted out! Ethan was already annoyed from his day at work and really didn’t want to listen. He started to walk away when his mother let out a gasp of air. “Fine, I’ll listen but I’m really not in the mood. I need food, a shower and sleep.” Ethan murmured.
The machine was old and took a moment to come to life; after he pushed the play button. “Mr. Ethan Young, my name is Chin-jo from Jao Chang Enterprises in Tokyo, Japan. I have received your recommendation for employment from Dawn Cipatrio. We have a position open for someone that fits your expertise. It’s a very tedious job in the research and development sector of our company. We would be willing to pay for your relocation and provide you with housing along with a team of constituents. We are offering a very competitive package. Please return my call as soon as possible.” Ethan caught his mother's arm just before he fell to the floor! “Is that real, mom? Did i really just get offered a job in Tokyo?” Ethan’s words came out stuttering.
That was 10 years ago. Ethan had accepted the job in Tokyo and had recovered hundreds of archaeological digs for the company. They had made millions with his finds. They had even managed to erect a museum with most of his findings. Only to let him go because of cutbacks. Ethan stood alone in the conference room, remenancing over his time in Tokyo. The box was still on the table along with a letter that accompanied it. “What do they want from me now? I’ve started a new life.” Ethan stated loudly. Opening the package simultaneously; his jaw dropped. The box contained the last piece to unearthing the temple of Rah! The puzzle would all fit together now. He had to return!
