Dissatisfied, she went from place to place, looking for the right foundation. One that would cover what she struggled to conceal but give a good appearance too. Tired of experimenting, she finally admitted that her attempts weren’t making her look any better or feel any better about herself and decided to get an answer from the Beautiful Counselor.
She knew Him; or at least she used to. When they had first met years before, the time spent together was the best! But now she wasn’t so sure He would want to spend time together; not after the way she had avoided Him when He wanted to talk about certain things in her life.
The battle raged within her; she decided that as worthy as He was of truth, she was that much more unworthy to seek Him after all.
She wandered in and out of Doubt and Fear and avoided Grace and Joy; the places where she remembered He lived. She raced away further from where He might be only to skid over Shame and fall again. The impact of her fall shattered the not so perfect foundation and she froze as the pieces fell for all to see. She pushed on as Remorse and Regret followed hard with the sharp pieces she left behind.
With a soul bruised to the core, she stopped with all intentions to stay in the darkness. Still clutching a piece of her past in her hand, she thought about Him. How much she missed Him and how very much she needed Him.
She barely let out a whisper. Something was happening. She didn’t even have to look up. Only His Presence was as bright and warm as the noonday sun! He lifted her chin and with more love than she ever thought she would feel again, He said “I AM here…you have need of Me?â€
She took a chance and asked her heart’s cry, “What covers shame?â€
“Nothing†… He said.
She began to weep and He stretched out His wounded hands to her face, kissed the tears and said, “Nothing in you, everything in Meâ€.
