The life he had known
Escape the fear that gripped his life
The seeds that he had sewn
The most he could remember
Of his early years at home
Was the brutal hand of his Mother
So he taught his mind to roam
Many things his mother did
He did not understand
But she raised him in the church
And he learned of a better land
This land is called Heaven
It’s there he longs to go
Too escape the world that let him down
No one seemed to know
The pain he was going through
Every day and every night
The demons he was fighting
Because he always seemed so bright
Everyone thought he had it all
He was good at hiding how he felt
No one knew how many times
He had wept and knelt
He still longs
For that land he heard about
And even with the heartache
And even with his shouts
God still whispers in his ear
Keep faith and be strong
Your purpose on this earth
Must be fulfilled before you’re gone
Escape is what he wants
To be free from all the pain
But God has other plans
Before eternal life he gains
Escape
A word he knows so well
Some days he doesn’t care
If it means going to hell
He gathers the strength to go on
To fulfill Gods ultimate plan
To be a good Christian
To be a good man
One day he will succeed
The journey will finally end
The escape he’s always wanted
Is just around bend
God be with me on this journey
Help me make it through the night
If I make mistakes
Be with me to make it right
