I am thoroughly convinced that God made a house for me to live in, to clean and decorate. My sister, on the other hand is in her element on the outside cutting grass, planting flowers, feeding animals. She grows beautiful flowers and glories in them each morning as she sits on her porch surveying her floral kingdom with a cup of coffee in hand. I, on the other hand, am inclined to cut the flowers, place them in a bowl on a table and enjoy my cup of coffee in the recliner. I am not concerned with the method of digging in the dirt, planting a seed and nurturing it. Providing beauty for the yard or for the house---it all seems a matter of taste.
Exuberance describes my sister’s personality. She is “out-doorsey”, adventurous, fun-loving, and very friendly. She is a walking “hug”. I am always described as the “hand-shaking” sister; more given to smiles than to laughs. Therefore, our tastes in friends and recreation differ greatly. She and her friends will likely be found exploring flea markets, boating at the camp, swimming, or on the fish bank. I might be on the fish bank with a book in hand--if it is a cool and shady fish bank. My taste for fish is only after it is “cornmeal-ed and fried”. It all seems a matter of taste.
Clothing is a real matter of taste. My sister is a “blue jeans, tee-shirts and boots” kind of a girl. I am “dresses and flat shoes”. Our taste in clothing always ran true to the “tom-boy” vs. “prissy” side of our personalities. Sometimes we wonder if we even share the same DNA. But I think it is all a matter of taste.
Regardless of the differences of taste in our lives, there is one thing upon which we totally agree--it is the matter of a hamburger. No doubt in both our minds that the reason God created a cow was for the sole purpose of making hamburger meat. We love hamburgers. You might say we have become connoisseurs of hamburgers. In order to judge fairly, we have tasted hamburgers from nearly every restaurant and fast food place within a hundred-mile radius of our home. There are distinct differences. Still many people frequent the fast food versions. I guess it is all a matter of taste.
There are so many matters of choice in the world. We can choose colors, activities, friends, food, religion, political parties--on and on. It is all very personal. That is why we have chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and a myriad of flavors in between. There is no accounting for taste.
