Our society has taught us to associate the color blue with saddness. This association brings up images of disappointment, pain, loss, abandonment, and loneliness. We have even added an "s" to the word to discribe the music that speaks of these things.
It just isn't fair. I remember another line from a poem I heard quoted by an elderly aunt. I can't recall the exact words but, it spoke of never seeing anything as beautiful as the blue of the October sky. I agree. I also recall a midi length half circle skirt of a smooth flowing material in a gorgeous royal blue. I've never had one that I loved more.
Through all my years, I've delighted to see the fields bring forth their lovely blue corn flowers in the spring. As a child, the crayon named after these was one of my favorites in the box. In my courting years, our front yard boasted a huge blue hydrangea bush. The porch swing was right behind it.
What other lovely things come in blue? There are blue ribbons, Christmas lights, Easter eggs, birds, glassware, gems, and my family's eyes.
Many lovely things bare in their discription the word, blue, a color which indeed has been given a bad rap.
