As a person wandering in darkness, our hearts are like the rock: cold, lifeless and hard. We wander upon the earth following the crowd, listening and reacting to our surroundings. We get tossed from one venue to another without protest because we have no life within us, no desire to dream. With rocks as hearts we cannot be moved by what is within us but instead, the environment in which we dwell moves us. We allow our bodies to be taken from one place to another, tossed upon the mercy of the water and ran over by those around us. What makes a rock decide to change?
One day our hearts have decided enough is enough and we begin to navigate toward our Creator and ask for softness. We ask for our hearts to be changed by His glory. We want a softness which leads to tenderness. We want to change our environment, however unless we become mobile, we are limited by our staionariness. rocks sit and stay, hearts move and pray. As we start the changing process, parts of our rock become soft. The hardness dissipates and turns into love because of the grace and mercy of the God who created us.
How do we move on from this hard and soft stage in our hearts? We pray. We love. We learn. We accept Gods' correction in our lives. We attach ourselves to the power of grace and begin to move in the spirit. We begin to see what Gods' plan is for us and we learn to soften the hard spots in our hearts by accepting the living water of Jesus. We move forward with the heartbeat of God. We begin to show others how good life can be when we drink in Jesus and His love for us.
Once we have become less like the rock and more like the heart of Jesus the hardness will fade and be completely replaced with soft love tissue. God will heal all of our hardness and lead us towards a life of grace and tenderness. A life filled with the desires to change other rocks and mend them. So where do you stand in the rock community? Are you drinking the living waters? Do you feel the soft spots in your heart growing bigger and consuming the hardness?
Being changed into the image of Christ is not easy, it is a daily battle against forces we cannot see and sometimes comprehend. keep looking up and moving forward. We can only prgress as far in one day as the grace of God can carry us, do not move faster than the Creator. One last thought to think about as you are turing your hardness into the image of Jesus. How many rocks have you tossed lately?
