I'll pay for the gas
It's better than sitting at home!
I'll pay for the food
I'll buy the motel
Just find one that's without a phone!
Let's travel and look
At all the fine things
We've already seen on Tee Vee,
And oh, by the way,
Let's not go today
I have a bad hitch in my knee!
Let's drive until dark
And then we will park
Where the moon will shine down
thru the trees
And soon after then,
Near a quarter of ten
Get me home to my bed if you please.
For now remember
That day in November
When all of us went out that way
We went on the bus
As far as it went
And then we all got in a sleigh
We traveled through mountains
O'er cliff trails and such
And nearly fell over the side
And since then I don't think
I've been that afraid
So afraid I just could have died
so let's just forget
About that big jaunt
To stay home, is now my desire.
And you all can go
And just let me be
Just leave me alone by the fire!
