However, when it came to actually planning my wedding, even at age twelve, I knew exactly what I wanted. A white Chantilly lace gown with a long train. It would have long sleeves and a sweet-heart neckline. My veil would be held in place by a sparkly tiara. I would carry a bouquet of white roses tied with a soft lavender ribbon. My bridesmaids would be dressed in different shades of lavender, each carrying a bouquet of white and lavender carnations. I would be the most beautiful bride ever and my husband-to-be would look handsome in his black tuxedo as he stood waiting for me to come down the aisle.
The wedding was complete, now I just had to wait for my “knight-in-shining-armor” to make his appearance.
I dreamed of what he would be like. He would be tall, blond and handsome. He would have a sense of humor, be sensitive, have a romantic side to him, and love me with his whole heart. He would also be someone who loved Jesus more. This was the most important part in my choosing a husband. He must love Jesus.
My dreams didn’t work out the way I had planned. There was no “knight-in-shining-armor” knocking at my door. I went through high school and college with no special someone in my life.
I would often ask myself “What am I doing wrong?”
I was a fun girl. I was an intelligent girl. I considered my self nice-looking. I dressed in the latest fashions. I enjoyed good conversation.
So, why was no one attracted to me?
I secured a well-paying job at a local advertising firm and soon found myself climbing the corporate ladder. It was a hard climb, but I was determined. However, I made the climb alone. There was no one to cheer me on. No one to share the joy of my accomplishment. I took the journey alone.
I soon realized that God did not have a “knight-in-shining-armor” waiting in the wings for me. I was going to travel through life alone - or was I?
On this particular Sunday morning God was about to surprise me. I had debated about going to church. I was feeling sad and depressed and wondered what the pastor could say to cheer me up. As I debated what I would do, the Spirit seemed to whisper into my ear, “Child, get dressed and go.”
That morning the pastor’s text was from Revelation 19. He talked about the wonderful events that would be taking place in heaven. A vast crowd would be there and they would be shouting, “Praise the Lord! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.” (19:1)
I could imagine this wonderful event taking place, and I could also imagine my being in the center of this crowd shouting these words of praise.
Again, the pastor mentioned the crowd that had gathered were shouting so loud it sounded like thunder. What they were shouting was, “Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” (19:6-8).
Wait a minute!
The pastor was talking about me. I was the bride dressed in white linen going to this wedding feast. My wedding dress would be fit for a princess. I was going to feast with the King. My “knight-in-shining-armor” might not appear in this life, but he would be coming for me. I would make a beautiful bride. I would have a wonderful wedding feast. And my handsome husband would be none other than the Lamb of God who gave his life for me so I could enjoy this special time with him.
Indeed, God answered the prayers of a little twelve-year old girl in a marvelous way.

I want to say that IF the right one never came along you missed only misery.
We place too much emphasis on the whole Bride thing.
I admit, there are lonesome times in Singleness. But trust me, at the least it is reasonable. What hurts and makes no sense is to live together alone.
